Why In the Heat of the Night might be annoying
Hugh O'Connor was hired as a way for Carroll O'Connor to keep an eye on him.
Howard E. Rollins was fired as a result of his many legal problems.
Although there is a real Sparta, Mississippi, the show was filmed in Covington, Georgia.
Throughout the run of the show they had to constantly find ways to explain the absence of the main characters due to their drug and health problems.
Despite the town only having a few hundred people, there were murders or multiple homicides just about every week.
Why In the Heat of the Night might not be annoying
The episodes were very raw and emotional.
They featured rape, suicide, drug abuse and incest.
They attempted to show an honest portrayal of life in the south.
They showed the real life struggles of African Americans in the Deep South due to the racism they face on a daily basis.
