Why she might be annoying:

During a Smashing Pumpkins concert in the early 1990's, a friend of hers threw a bottle on stage that almost hit Billy Corgan.
She dropped out of college to join Hole.
She said of herself: 'I wasn't a really good bassist before I joined Hole. I'd do weird things, but I wouldn't know what I was doing.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Her mother was one of Montreal's first female rock radio DJ's.
She's caught malaria three times.
She was committed on apologizing to Billy about her friends behavior. After apologizing, she and Billy became friends.
After Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff died, Billy recommended Melissa to Courtney Love as a replacement.
The first song she recorded with Hole was a cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'Gold Dust Woman.'
She participated in a Black Sabbath tribute band after the Smashing Pumpkins broke up.
In addition to working with Billy Corgan, she's also worked with former Faith No More singer, Mike Patton, former Kyuss band members Josh Homme and Brant Bjork and the Deftones' singer, Chino Moreno.
She walked down the aisle topless during a fashion show in Paris.
