The Resume

    (January 13, 2009- )
Cooking competition series shown in The Food Network
Premise: Four chefs create a dish in each round (appetizer, entree and dessert) with items in the 'Mystery Basket;' after each round, one chef gets eliminated until one remains
    Hosted by Ted Allen

Why Chopped might be annoying:

Chefs have to use up to four 'mystery basket' ingredients together to make a appetizer, entree and a dessert.
Baskets often contain strange combination of items that must be used together in that round (in one episode chefs had to create a dessert with parsnips, limoncello, soda crackers and cheddar cheese).
The judging and elimination format is similar to that of 'Top Model,' with the only difference being that the competition is in one episode.
Rigid time constraints place chefs at risk for burns, cuts or other cooking accidents.
The same time constraint leaves competitors vulnerable to unintentionally skipping a mystery basket ingredient.

Why Chopped might not be annoying:

Host Ted Allen is openly gay.
Chefs have access to a fully stocked pantry to add other ingredients to make their dishes.
Holiday editions of the show would include an ingredient representing the occasion; for example, one Christmas episode included a gingerbread house and a chocolate Santa.
The judging panel evaluate the final dishes based on creativity, presentation and taste.
A Halloween episode included a gummy skull as an ingredient - and the judges dressed up in costumes.
Although the series does have a rotation of regular judges, it sometimes summons star chefs including Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown to examine the food.
The winner leaves with a cash prize of $10,000.
