The Resume

    (December 10, 1991- )
    Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Birth name is Eric Todd Reid
Selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft
Safety for the San Francisco 49ers
Played for the Louisiana State University (LSU) Fighting Tigers (2010-12)
Was heavily criticized for refusing to stand for the National Anthem, joining Colin Kaepernick's protest against racial inequality in America (September, 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He made an awkward joke regarding 'getting his hands on Tom Brady's balls' in an attempt at levity prior to a 49ers-Patriots game.
He was criticised for joining a protest deemed disrespectful to America and its military/veterans.
He told the press that he would probably continue to kneel if the then-widely circulated rumours that Kaepernick would be soon removed from the roster turned out to be true (awkward).
His motion to join Kaepernick transformed the protest from an isolated incident to a wave trend throughout the NFL, ensuring that it wouldn't be ending anytime soon (although the Seahawks' Jeremy Lane also sat through the Anthem during the same game).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a stand-out Track & Field athlete in High School.
His father was a three-time All-American hurdler at LSU in the 1980s.
His mom was an Army veteran and a tight/defensive end for the Baton Rouge Wildcats of the Women’s AFL.
He was elected to the 2014 Pro Bowl after a strong showing during his Rookie season.
He was voted as the 49ers representative for the NFL Players Association (2015).
He called Kaepernick 'brave' for his protest, saying 'It's bigger than football, what he's doing. ... it's people's lives.'
He was reportedly motivated to join the protest by the July race riots in his home city of Baton Rouge, which he said 'hit closer to home.'
He came to the joint decision with Kaepernick to kneel, instead of sit, during the Anthem so that the protest would be seen as more respectful.
He defended Kaepernick's protest from critics who called it unpatriotic, saying: 'It's quite the contrary to what some people are trying to make it out to be. He loves this country so much that he's trying to bring attention to things that need to be fixed.'
