The Resume

    (July 2, 1984-June 11, 1993)
    Aired on NBC
    Hosted by Chuck Woolery
Premise: Contestants compete against each other in a game show based on the popular board game
First run ended March 23, 1990 and second run began January 18, 1993

Why Scrabble might be annoying:

The rules of the game show version were completely different from the rules of the board game it was based on.
An attempt to revive the show in 1993 flopped.
An unpopular rule that required the contestants to spell the words before they guessed them was added in the show's second season (it was quickly abandoned).
As a result of the rule, one episode featured a memorable moment where 2 contestants failed to spell the word 'mosquitoes.'
Chuck Woolery once asked a Jewish contestant what he got for Christmas.

Why Scrabble might not be annoying:

The show paid out pretty large cash prizes for its time.
It is the only successful game show based on a board game.
The show was well remembered for its colorful set.
