Why they might be annoying:

Despite an output of six albums in four years, they’re basically known only for 'Washington Square.'
Because of the folk nuances on that single, they were often misidentified as a folk group.
Helped along in no small part by the British Invasion, they went on a hiatus of some 35 years.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were all college-educated and thus familiar with the emerging folk scene on campuses of the 50s and 60s.
If not with rank-and-file listeners, they were highly popular with disc jockeys.
Following their reunion, they remained active well into the 1990s.
They consider their gig at the Carter Barron Ampitheater in Washington D.C. (with Louis Armstrong and Dave Brubeck, 1964) among their most memorable bookings.
