Hero

The Resume

Legendary 19th century North American lumberjack
    Often portrayed as a giant
Sometimes accompanied by a giant blue ox called Babe (allegedly given to him by Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone)
Name may be a corruption of 'Bonjean' or 'Bonyenne'

Why he might be annoying:

His surname sounds like a foot disorder.
Estimates of his height range greatly, from 8 to 94 feet.
Several locales in Canada and the United States claim to be his birthplace (hence the many statues of him scattered across North America).
He was a hard-to-manage baby who broke windows when he laughed and sawed the legs off his parents’ bed.
Some believe he was entirely fabricated by a journalist or an advertising agency for the Red River Logging Company.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was celebrated as a skilled lumberjack in logging camps across North America.
He was possibly based on an actual French Canadian lumberjack known as Big Joe Mufferaw.
He may have helped the French in Canada battle the British.
He is responsible for many North American landmarks such as the Great Lakes (a watering-hole dug for Babe) and Mount Hood (a pile of rocks for his campfire).
John Dos Passos wrote about him in ‘USA Trilogy.’
A rose and a professional wrestling move are named after him.
