Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He went by Rick instead of his birth name of Robert.
He was reviled by Expos fans in the last few seasons of his career.
He looked like Dax Shepard during his playing career.
He was traded by the Cubs to the Dodgers the winter after he made the flag save at Dodger Stadium (December, 1977).
Some baseball pundits felt the Dodgers made the trade as gratitude for the gesture he did at the stadium months earlier.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first player ever selected in the history of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the baseball off-season.
His gesture of swiping away the American Flag from the protesters led to him receiving a thunderous ovation from the Dodger Stadium crowd, as well as the message on the scoreboard that read 'Rick Monday... You Made A Great Play'.
He said his decision to pull the flag away as hastily as he did, was after he saw it being doused in gasoline and realized it was going to be burnt.
He hit the series clinching home run off Steve Rogers in Game 5 of the 1981 NLCS, that Montrealers refer to as 'Blue Monday.'
He earned a World Series ring with the Dodgers (1981).
He began working in the Dodgers broadcast booth, following the death of Don Drysdale.
He volunteers his time to various causes pertaining to veterans.
He was presented with the Peace On Earth Medallion and for his valor and patriotic actions by saving the American flag from being burned in that 1976 game (September, 2008).
