    Born in Wichita Falls, Texas
Recorded the singles 'Thinking of You' (1950), 'Vanity' (1951), 'Mona Lisa' (1952), 'Band of Gold' (1955), 'Wild Cherry' (1956) and 'Ghost Town' (1956)

Why he might be annoying:

His unwillingness to commit fully to either career left him a less famous crooner than Dean Martin and a less successful golfer than Jack Nicklaus.
He was notorious for throwing clubs and other displays of temper on the golf course.
He recorded the Mr. Clean jingle for late 50s/early 60s commercials.
He was married to and divorced from former Miss America Sharon Ritchie.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.
Vic Damone called him 'a singer's singer.'
He is the only person who can boast of having both a million-selling single ('Band of Gold') and a top-10 finish at the US Open (1960).
His recording of 'Band of Gold' was the first song played after the credits in the first episode of Mad Men.
His son Stephen died in the 9/11 attacks; his office in the World Trade Center was located where American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower.
