Why they might be annoying:

Their name Television comes from TV, Tom Verlaine's initials.
They originally broke up due to tensions between Richard and Tom.
After being reunited in 1991, they broke up a couple of years later for unknown reasons.
Being an American band, they never appeared on US charts.
Tom Verlaine took his stage name in tribute to Paul Verlaine, a violent, alcoholic, child-molesting French poet.
They named the band after a device that arguably causes short attention spans.

Why they might not be annoying:

'Marquee Moon' is considered one of the best punk albums of all time and the most influential album to the New York music scene.
Although their albums did not do great on the US charts, the albums and singles were big hits on the UK charts.
Tom played guitar with Patti Smith and also helped her write a book of poetry.
Without them, Interpol and The Strokes would most likely not be around.
The Kronos Quartet does an all string cover of 'Marquee Moon.'
They frequently worked with Blondie, even supporting them on their 1977 tour.
In 2001, they once again reunited to play several shows around the world and now play shows in the New York area.
