Recorded the singles ‘Honeycomb’ (1957), ‘Kisses Sweeter Than Wine’ (1957), ‘Oh-Oh, I’m Falling in Love Again’ (1958), ‘Secretly’ (1958), ‘Are You Really Mine?’ (1958), ‘T.L.C. Tender Love and Care’ (1959), ‘It’s Over’ (1966), and ‘Child of Clay’ (1967)

Why he might be annoying:

He shares a name with the Father of Country Music.
’Honeycomb’ was named one of the ’20 Worst Number One Hits’ in Dave Marsh’s ‘Book of Rock Lists.’ (And a decade and a half later, it was one of the ’40 Worst Number One Hits’ in ‘The New Book of Rock Lists.’)
He hosted two short-lived variety shows (1959,1969).
He was married three times, divorced twice.
He adapted ‘Oh-Oh, I’m Falling in Love’ into a jingle for Spaghetti-Os.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won $700 on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts (1957).
’Honeycomb,’ ‘Kisses Sweeter Than Wine,’ and ‘Secretly’ were all crossover hits, each reaching the top ten on Billboard’s pop, country, and R&B singles charts.
He suffered a serious head injury after being pulled over by a L.A. police officer (December 1, 1967).
The official account was that off-duty officer Michael Duffy had pulled Rodgers over for erratic driving. After Rodgers got out of the car, he stumbled, fell, and hit his head against the pavement. Duffy called for assistance from two other officers, who helped put an unconscious Rodgers into his car, after which the three officers left the scene.
The three officers were given a two-week suspension for improper behavior, mainly putting the injured Rodgers in his car and leaving him unattended.
He eventually received a $200,000 settlement from the city of Los Angeles.
In his autobiography, singer Tommy James claimed Roulette Records owner Morris Levy had arranged for Rodgers to be beaten as punishment for his repeated demands for unpaid royalties.
