Hockey Player
He was a journeyman player, often bouncing around between the NHL and the minor leagues.
He was suspended numerous times during the course of his career for dirty plays.
He earned notoriety in hockey circles as he was the subject of ballot stuffing by fans to play in the 2016 NHL All-Star Game.
As a result of the ballot stuffing, he was appointed captain of the Pacific Division All-Star team.
He was traded to the Canadiens a week prior to the All-Star Game, in a move which many fans felt was a spite move by Gary Bettman to keep him from playing in the game.
Their anger was confirmed when the Canadiens publicly went on the record saying they were going to send him down to their farm affiliate in St. John's, Newfoundland, rather then have him on the roster.
He signed with the Wild as an undrafted free agent.
He initially didn't take the campaign seriously, but gained a sense of humour as it gained steam on social media.
He refused to cave into the demands of both the NHL and the Coyotes, who wanted him to step away and not participate in the game, prior to his trade.
Upon finding out he would have been captain of the Pacific All-Star team, he got customized shirts made up for his teammates (which went viral after the trade became public).
He is a versatile player, as he played both the forward and defense positions.
