Why he might be annoying:

    He is pretentious and verbose.
He has been married five times.
He calls his house 'Ellison Wonderland.'
He is an angry man with a horrible temper.
Although most of his work is undeniably science fiction, he said: 'Call me a science-fiction writer and I'll come to your house and nail your pet's head to the table.'
He was a spokesman for the dangerous little Geo Metro automobile.
He put pressure on DC Comics until they removed all BB gun ads from their publications.
He is temperamental and on whims will threaten movie execs to remove his name as author.
He was once hired by Disney, but was fired his first day for using pornographic language in front of Roy Disney.

Why he might not be annoying:

He doesn't smoke, drink or use drugs.
    He is extremely prolific.
At their best, his stories are beautifully written and deeply disturbing.
In addition to his sci-fi work, he has written many essays on media and culture.
He is a vocal opponent of censorship.
He writes amusing fake biographies of himself for his book jackets.
Stephen King considers him a huge influence.
Although he was not too happy with his Star Trek episode 'City on the Edge of Forever' it is a fan favorite and won the Hugo award.
