TV Series
    (September 12, 1989-May 23, 1993)
    Drama series
    Originally aired on ABC
Bill Smitrovich as Andrew 'Drew' Thatcher
Patti LuPone as Elizabeth 'Libby' Thatcher
Tracey Needham, as Paige Thatcher (seasons 2-4)
    Chris Burke as Corky Thatcher
Kellie Martin as Rebecca 'Becca' Thatcher
Premise: The chronicles of a contemporary suburban family living in suburban Chicago
It was yet another show about a typical American nuclear family.
Paige was initially portrayed by Monique Lainer in the first season before being replaced by Needham from the second season onward.
Most episodes felt like 'Very Special Episodes' and 'Afterschool Specials.'
During the early 90s, the series spawned the term 'You're Corky' in Spain meaning 'You're dumb or daft' in reference to the character's down syndrome.
As of 2021, only one season of the series has been released on DVD.
Because of expensive music licensing fees, a specifically made theme song for the DVD release called 'Life Goes On' replaced the one used during its original airing ('Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' by The Beatles).
It was the first television series to cast an actor with down syndrome in a starring role.
The show dealt with controversial subjects such as AIDS, rape, and alcoholism.
Due to viewer complaints about the neglect Arnold the Semi-Wonder Dog received during the show's opening credits, the final episode's opening sequence featured a bag of dog food spilling for Arnold to eat.
The series won a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Chad Lowe in 1993.
'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' is kept intact for the pilot episode on the program's season one DVD.
