He is inconsistent for a defenseman.
He was booed by both the Oiler and Ranger fans as a result.
He was a healthy scratch for a handful of games during the 2005-06 season.
He is extremely injury prone.
Some hockey pundits feel he does not use his size to his advantage.

He majored in history at Boston University.
He became the second defenseman in Beanpot Tournament history to earn MVP honors (1996).
He was the first Oiler rookie defenseman in 12 years to earn All-Rookie Team honors.
He was a member of the United States silver medal winning Olympic men's hockey team (2002).
He suffers from severe food allergies and he often educates parents and children about the use of Epi-pens and food safe practices.
