    Born in El Vendrell, Spain
    Birth name was Pau Casals i Defillo
    Cellist and conductor
    Best known for his recordings of Bach's cello suites

Why he might be annoying:

    He started on violin, piano and flute before taking up the cello.
    He suffered such severe stage fright that when he injured his hand in a climbing accident, his first thought was relief at the possibility of no longer being able to play.
    When he was 80, he married a 20-year-old student.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He played for presidents Teddy Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy.
    He went into exile after Francisco Franco rose to power, vowing not to return until democracy was restored in Spain.
    He died in exile in San Juan, but his remains were laid to rest in his hometown six years later.
    He was posthumously honored by the government of King Juan Carlos with a stamp commemorating the centennial of his birth.
