The Resume

    (1346-1859)
Geographic region that makes up modern, south-eastern Romania

Why Wallachia might be annoying:

It had autonomous rule for only the briefest periods in its history, spending most of its history as a vassal of the Ottoman Empire until uniting with Modovia to form what would become the Kingdom of Romania.
Brutal Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was from there.
One of its historical names was Ungrovalachia.
Slavery (mostly of gypsies) was legal throughout its history, up until the mid 19th Century.
It has a very violent history frequently involving conflicts featuring the Mongols, Russians, and/or the Ottoman Empire.

Why Wallachia might not be annoying:

It has great natural resources and throughout its history has served as a farming center.
The study of its history, starting with the Romans to the history of modern day Romania is fascinating.
Its slaves were freed without the use of violence.
It peacefully and democratically formed modern day Romania with Moldavia in 1881.
