Why he might be annoying:

His name unimaginatively translates as 'pig.'
'Khanzir' is also used as an insult in many Middle Eastern countries.
He lives in a country where pigs are thought unclean and pork is banned.
He was quarantined owing to fears of swine flu (May 2009).
The Kabul Zoo was also home to Marjan, a lion that killed a Taliban fighter.

Why he might not be annoying:

He allows Afghanis to see up close a much stigmatized animal.
His female companion was eaten by a bear at the zoo.
He befriended the goats and deer that share his enclosure.
He has no trace of swine flu and no connection to Mexico where the H1N1 virus originated.
The zoo director claims he was quarantined more for his own safety than the public’s.
