His addictions to PCP and heroin led him to selling his record collection.
After a final stay in rehab, he told his mother he was 'ready to die' and 'had lived a good life.'

He's a legend.
His eclectic works incorporated Afro-Cuban sounds, funk and Philly soul.
He remixed singles for Gwen Guthrie and Evelyn 'Champagne' King.
He was openly gay.
He died from endocarditis at just 38.
