Why they might be annoying:

    Their song 'Guilty of Being White' was accused of using white power rhetoric.
    They broke up over 'musical differences.'
    They are anti-consumerists who licensed their name and logo to Urban Outfitters (2013).
    MacKaye said it was 'absurd' that Urban Outfitters was selling band t-shirts for $28.

Why they might not be annoying:

    Trouser Press wrote, 'If you haven't heard them, then you have never -- repeat, never -- heard hardcore..
    Their song 'Straight Edge' inspired the straight edge movement of renouncing mind-altering drugs.
    MacKay and Nelson founded Dischord Records to release music by DC-area punk bands.
    MacKaye said the band made the deal with Urban Outfitters because trying to suppress bootleg band merchandise by themselves had been 'a complete waste of time.'
