Why she might be annoying:

Although she is considered the first American saint, she was born in Italy.
She faced opposition from superiors in the Catholic Church who didn’t believe she was capable of carrying out her missions.
She also faced lawsuits in her native Italy as she tried to establish various institutions there.
It was rumored she was supposed to be a passenger on the Titanic, but canceled her trip at the last minute.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was canonized by Pope Pius XII and became a saint in the Catholic Church (1946).
She founded more than sixty institutions throughout the United States for the needy and under privileged.
She bravely traveled throughout South America carrying out missions in the midst of revolutionary wars.
She was born two months premature and was plagued by health problems her entire life.
Many schools, hospitals, care facilities and community outreach programs are named in her honor.
