Why she might be annoying:

She started as a child star, billed as 'Baby Anna Lehr.'
Her film career largely petered out following a contract dispute with Warner Brothers.
She was married three times, divorced twice.
She said of her stage name, 'I have had quite a time with the name, having been called practically everything from Balzac to Bickelsrock.'

Why she might not be annoying:

While a chorus girl in MGM musicals, she also worked as a dance instructor and assistant choreographer.
Her dispute with Warner Brothers was triggered by the discovery that she was making the same salary as the five-year-old playing her son in 'Three on a Match.'
During World War II, she worked as an ambulance driver in England.
After retiring from films, she became a bibliophile, with a valuable collection of first editions dating back to 1703.
