The Resume

    (June 3, 1960- )
    Raised in Oregon
Played for Boston Red Sox (1985-86, 1991, 1992-1993), Chicago White Sox (1986-1990), Atlanta Braves (1992) Montreal Expos (1992)
    Sportscaster for Fox Sports (1996-October 13, 2006)
Sportscaster for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers
Wrote an autobiography 'Steve Lyons: PSYCHOanalysis' (2001)

Why he might be annoying:

His memorable moment was dropping his pants to clean the dirt off in front of all the fans in Tiger Stadium and those watching on TV (July 16, 1990).
His nicknames are Psycho and Moon Man
He batted only .148 in his entire NL career. As an Atlanta Brave he batted just .071.
He spent three tours with the Red Sox.
He spotted a Mets fan, wearing a contraption on his face. He said 'He's got a digital camera stuck to his face.' It turned out Mr. Teitelbaum is partially sighted and used the Jordy to see (October 2006).
He got a game suspension when he objected that Shawn Green took off for Yom Kippur. He said that Shawn 'was not a practicing Jew, he didn't marry a Jewish girl.' He continued '... and from what I understand, he never had a bar mitzvah, which is unfortunate because he didn't get the money.'
He was fired by FOX for what was labeled racially insensitive remarks. He was co-casting with Lou Piniella who made an analogy about a weak hitter getting hits to finding a wallet on Friday and hoping it happened again the next week. Piniella then used words like 'en fuego' (on fire) and 'frio' (cold). Lyons joked 'habla-ing Espanol' and 'I still can't find my wallet.' He continued 'I don't understand him and I don't want to sit too close to him now (October 15, 2006).'

Why he might not be annoying:

After the dropping the pants episode, he thanked his mom saying 'She's the one who always told me to wear clean underwear.'
He pitched 2 innings for the White Sox giving up 1 run (1990). He walked 4 and struck out 1.
He then pitched an inning for the Red Sox giving up 2 hits and no runs.
He was traded for Tom Seaver (June 29, 1986).
He played all nine positions as a Chicago White Sox.
He would dig his spikes into the ground to play tic-tac-toe.
As a player he would high five fans who caught foul balls.
He quipped after a well hit grounder 'Get the married guys off the infield (2005)!'
    He won an Emmy.
As soon as he found out he made fun of a partially sighted fan, he immediately apologized.
After being fired by Fox he said 'They're trying to make it like I was saying Spanish people steal wallets. Nothing could be further from the truth. I think it reads worse than the way I said it. It was a joke.'
Lou Piniella defended him saying 'There isn't a racist bone in his body. Not one'
