The Resume

    (2001- )
    Born in Canada
Originated in Canada, broadcast world wide
Appears on 'The Science Channel' in United States
US version narrated by Brooks T. Moore (2001-2007), (2008-present) and Zac Fine (2007-2008)

Why How It's Made might be annoying:

They often cover items people use but don't really think about (such as matches, toothpicks, staples, toothbrushes and pencils).
Some images of food (like tofu, hot dog mixture, dough for frozen pizza and bread dough) being mixed in large vats appear unappetizing.
Somehow, producers feel viewers need to know how eggs are manufactured when everyone knows hens make them.

Why How It's Made might not be annoying:

Large items like kayaks, musical instruments, manhole covers, dining room tables and even a hockey rink are covered.
In 2009, the very popular series entered its 12th season.
Despite its narrative documentary format, the show avoids being boring.
Viewers find watching the items being made very transfixing.
No matter how small or trivial the item is, the series shows that special care is taken in the making of the item.
While the original series is broadcast in English, it gets translated in 30 different languages as it gets aired in several countries.
Shows cover parts of large multicomponent items (like cars) with each part given its own individual episode (engines, seatbelts, airbags, shock absorbers etc.).
Viewers often see that many facets of the manufacturing process involve actual people doing detail work.
That episode about the eggs cover how eggs are cleansed, sorted, graded, quality inspected and transported.
Furthermore, egg manufacturers feed the hens a specialized mixture three times a day in a temperature- and light-controlled environment to ensure maximum shell and yolk quality.
That egg episode also shows viewers that roosters are not required for egg making.
'Fun' episodes cover bubble gum (see photo), ice cream treats, crayons and candy canes.
