Why Miami Ink might be annoying:

James, self-appointed 'leader of the gang,' talks and acts tough (his hobby was free-style fighting), but the others know it's a ruse.
James screwed up his back while working out at the gym.
Nuñez started his art career as a graffiti artist.
Nuñez is a self-proclaimed 'ladies man.'
Garver claims he really got his first tattoo at age 6, when somebody stabbed him in the finger with a pencil.
In 2002, Garver received his 'favorite' tattoo from a monk in Thailand; a Buddhist script that can only be read by Thai monks.
Brass broke his arm when he slipped on an oil patch at a gas station.
Brass, the so-called 'teddy bear' of the group, made fun of his wife's tears while Von d was tattooing her.
Most of the time he takes it with a grain of salt, but occasionally he gets pissed off and 'loses it.'
They are more than willing to accommodate customers who want permanent reminders of their handiwork etched upon their skin while separating them from their money.

Why Miami Ink might not be annoying:

Their camaraderie seems genuine and real, not scripted.
James gave up his free-style fighting hobby to protect his tools of the trade (his hands).
After his 'bosses' threw him a bachelor party, Harada married his longtime girlfriend in a beach front ceremony on the show.
Garver is consider one of the best in the business and has tattooed stars such as David Arquette and David Lee Roth.
The show has seen films stars Mark Zupan ('Murderball - 2005') and Johnny Messner ('Spartan - 2004') come in for tattoos.
When Brass broke his arm, Garver called his old friend Von d and asked if she could fill in while Brass was on the mend.
She was more than willing to do so, and has given the series a welcome woman figure to help dilute some of the testosterone that was flying through the shop.
When Nuñez was a kid his father committed suicide.
They have all had their share of clients come in to get memorial tattoos of deceased loved ones.
