Star Trek fans will always be comparing her to Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), the communications officer from the original series.
She's an accomplished ballroom dancer.
She has little major acting experience outside of 'Enterprise.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Although Korean she is able to play a Japanese character.
She received an acting degree from Boston University.
She joined the cast of 'Enterprise' only one year after graduating from college.
She is a certified actor combatant.
She's the youngest recurring cast member on 'Enterprise.'
She continues the tradition of a racially diverse cast in the Star Trek series.
