The Resume

    (1999-January 14, 2015)
Formerly known as the Prevue Channel
    Bought by TV Guide (1999)
Programs include 'Watch This!,' 'The 411,' 'Ready, Set, Change!,' 'TV Candy,' 'Look-a-Like,' 'Seeing Stars,' 'Open Call,' 'Sushi TV,' 'TV Guide Close Up' and 'TV Watercooler'
Personalities include Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, John Henson, Madison Michele, Rosanna Tavarez, John Fugelsang and Debra Wilson
    Reaches around 80 million homes
Screen split into two parts: bottom screen displays a scrolling grid of local TV listings while top screen shows entertainment news and previews of upcoming shows and films

Why TV Guide Channel might be annoying:

When you want to know the name of the movie on channel 25, the first listings you will probably see are for channel 26.
It's the ultimate television paradox: it gives a schedule of shows that it's directly competing against.
Without the listings, it is basically a cheap rip-off of E! and VH-1.
It keeps shrinking the listings portion to add room for the screen on the top half (come on, who goes to this channel to watch what's on the top half?).
The listings shrink even further during red carpet events, presumably to show more detailed close-ups of Joan Rivers' awful plastic surgery.
During one episode of 'Look-a-Like,' someone got a makeover to look like Paris Hilton.
It tends to hire reality show rejects such as Kimberly Caldwell.

Why TV Guide Channel might not be annoying:

It's a useful tool for viewers who don't have a satellite or cable service with a program schedule.
During Emmy or Oscar seasons, they highlight the respective award-nominated or winning shows/films in gold.
Its executives get many cast members from 'Lost' to do promos for them.
It keeps couch potatoes from breaking their remotes channel-surfing.
