Why he might be annoying:

He initially planned to major in mathematics and enrolled in physics by mistake.
Frederic and Irene Joliot-Curie had actually discovered the neutron a year earlier without realizing it.
While working on the Manhattan Project, he told Harold Urey, ‘I wish I could tell you that the bomb is not going to work, but I am 90 percent certain that it will.’
He became addicted to sleeping pills.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was working in Berlin under Hans Geiger when World War I began and he was detained as an enemy alien.
He was allowed to set up a laboratory in the stables of the internment camp and conduct experiments.
He used about two-thirds of his Nobel Prize winnings to purchase equipment for the physics labs at the University of Liverpool.
He wrote the final draft of the ‘MAUD Report’ that convinced the US government to invest millions of dollars into a program to develop an atomic bomb.
