    He was the first skater to land a quadruple loop in competition (September 30, 2016).
    He donated the $150,000 he received from the Japanese Skating Federation and Japanese Olympic Committee after his two gold medal victories to rebuilding projects in his hometown, which had been badly damaged in the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
    He was a regular participant in Nippon TV's annual charity program '24-Hour Television' (2014-22).
    He was named to Forbes' '30 Under 30 Asia' list (2018)
    He was the first figure skater to receive the People's Honor Award from the Japanese Prime Minister and the youngest recipient of the award (2018).
    His solo show 'Gift' attracted 35,000 spectators, a record attendance for an ice show (February 26, 2023).
