The Resume

    (May 25, 1963-October 29, 2010)
    Born in St. Louis, Missouri
    American director and documentary filmmaker
Best known co-directing the documentary film 'Heart of Darkness (1991)'
Other credits include 'Ghost Brigade (1993),' 'Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade (1994),' 'The Low Life (1995),' 'Dogtown (1997),' and "Being Kick (2001)'

Why he might be annoying:

His surname is hard to spell and pronounce.
In high school, he was part of a group of teenage filmmakers he informally called the 'Splicers.'
During his time at Yale, movie making sometimes overtook his course work and nearly got him kicked out.
In fact, he and other friends were arrested for trespassing in an abandoned off-limits building on campus (though no charges were pressed against him).
His death was ruled as an overdose of oxymorphone mixed with alcohol.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a baseball history buff.
His brother, John, served as governor of Colorado.
His first documentary feature film, 'Heart of Darkness,' won critical acclaim.
His passion for filmmaking started when he was a toddler drawing stick figures.
He was an independent filmmaker par excellence, struggling to get movies his way even if they were out of sync with the Hollywood fashion.
