The Resume

    (2004-2014)
    Located in Charlotte, North Carolina
Notable former players include Emeka Okafor, Adam Morrison, Sean May, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, DeGasana Diop, Brevin Knight, Primoz Brevec and Kareem Rush
Changed team name to become the second incarnation of the Charlotte Hornets (July 18, 2013)

Why they might be annoying:

They were created just three years after Charlotte's previous team, the Hornets, moved to New Orleans.
They were created even though most agree the NBA has too many teams.
They are named the Bobcats because their first owner's name is Bob (how lame is that?).
They panicked when their star Okafor was chosen to play in the 2004 Olympics, fearing he would get injured before their inaugural season.
Larry Brown walked out on the team a month and a half into his third season as head coach (December, 2010).
They only won seven games during the strike shortened 2011-12 season.
They failed to win a playoff game in their only playoff appearance, being swept out of the first round in four straight games.

Why they might not be annoying:

The team's arrival gave the NBA an even number of teams for the first time in 24 years.
Their first draft pick was Okafor, who had just come off leading Connecticut to a NCAA title.
They are the first team in major American pro sports to have a black majority owner (Robert Johnson).
They were welcomed with open arms by Charlotte, considering the crap the city went through under unstable Hornets owner George Shinn.
They defeated the former Charlotte team, the Hornets, in their first meeting.
They have the same feline theme as Charlotte's other pro team, the Carolina Panthers.
