    Born in Montgomery, Alabama
    Recorded the singles 'Knock on Wood,' 'Raise Your Hand,' 'Big Bird' and 'I Never Found A Girl (To Love Me Like You Do)'

Why he might be annoying:

    He first recorded for a record label owned by his uncle.
    At the time that Amii Stewart was topping the chart with a discofied version of 'Knock on Wood,' he recorded an unsuccessful disco album of his own.
    He appeared in the inferior 'Blues Brothers 2000' sequel.

Why he might not be annoying:

    In addition to his own songs, he co-wrote Wilson Pickett's hits 'Ninety-Nine and Half (Won't Do)' and '634-5789.'
    His 'Raise Your Hand' was covered in concert by Janis Joplin and Bruce Springsteen.
    He received a Pioneer Award from the Blues Heritage Society (1996).
