Why he might be annoying:

He tended to be cast as the comic relief in otherwise serious films.
His trademark line was 'Oh, my, my, my.'
Oddly, although he appeared in 'Ruggles of Red Gap,' he did not portray Ruggles -- Charles Laughton did.
He was married and divorced twice.
He and his second wife owned 94 pets at one point.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mother was shot and killed when she stepped between her husband and an armed burglar.
