Baseball Player

The Resume

    (October 24, 1983- )
    Born in Framingham, Massachusetts
First baseman / outfielder for the Minnesota Twins (2013–2014) and Toronto Blue Jays (2015– )
Played for Italy in the 2013 World Baseball Classic
2013 International League Most Valuable Player + Rookie of the Year
    6 ft 4 in

Why he might be annoying:

Having spent his early childhood in Rimini, Italy – where his mother was born – he would not return stateside until 1991.
Though he was not acquired via draft.
Having tested positive for a banned anabolic substance in his wizz (dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, or oral turinabol), he was suspended for 80 games, or about half the 2016 season, without pay.
He wasn’t even the first player to test positive for the substance; a Phillies pitcher was suspended the week before.
Try finding anything on him that isn’t baseball-related!

Why he might not be annoying:

He came by his talent honestly — his father was a pitcher for the 1984 Italian Olympic team.
While in the minors, he was a substitute teacher and baseball instructor.
Before entering Major League Baseball, at almost age 30, he spent seven years in the Can-Am League.
He refused a seven-figure offer by a Korean league so he could play in the stateside majors.
While it was his ultimate dream to be a major-league player, he does not actively seek the approval of scouts or the hierarchy.
