The Resume

    (April 1, 1578-June 12, 1657)
Born in Folkestone, England, United Kingdom
Determined how blood circulates in the body
Published 'An Anatomical Exercise on the Motion of the Heart and Blood in Animals' (1628)

Why he might be annoying:

He made many of his discoveries by dissecting still-living animals.
He waited a dozen years between making his discovery and publishing it.
Because of his support of King Charles I during the English Civil War, he had to resign from St. Bartholomew's Hospital and Oxford revoked an honorary degree it had given to him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He disproved the prevailing theories that blood was manufactured by the liver, that veinous and arterial blood are different fluids with separate functions and that the heart moves blood by suction.
During the Battle of Edgehill (October 23, 1642), he was placed in charge of ensuring the safety of future kings Charles II and James II.
He donated money for a library at Oxford and a grammar school in his hometown.
