Why she might be annoying:

She enhanced her 'Mother' image by pushing her birth year back to 1830.
She opposed women's suffrage, feeling it was a diversion from the real problem of worker's exploitation.
The District Attorney of West Virginia called her 'the most dangerous woman in America.'
She was sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder after a guard was killed during a miner's strike (1913).

Why she might not be annoying:

Her husband and four children died in a yellow fever epidemic (1867).
She lost her possessions in the Chicago Fire (1871).
She fought for the rights of workers and the poor.
She organized a 'Children's Crusade' from Philadelphia to President Theodore Roosevelt's summer home to bring public attention to child labor.
She was pardoned by the governor of West Virginia after the guard's killers were identified as associates of a prominent local businessman.
After a senator called her 'the grandmother of all agitators,' she responded that she hoped to live long enough to become the great-grandmother of all agitators.
Her motto was 'Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.'
