    American author, artist, and editor most well known for her work in the fantasy genre
    Founder of the Endicott Studio dedicated to the study of myth, folklore, and fairy tales

    Edited over thirty books of fantasy anthologies and is the former editor of both Ace and Tor books fantasy lines
    Books included; 'The Wood Wife,' 'The Raven Queen' and 'The Winter Child'
    Edited (with Ellen Datlow) The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror anthology series from 1986-2003
    A former New Yorker, she later split her time between Devon, England and Tuscon, Arizona because she felt closer to the local myths of the two places.
    She's into the whole New Age, earth spirituality thing.
    She says she 'grew into' fairy tales instead of growing out of them.
    She has made an incalculable contribution to the field of fantasy fiction as an editor, author, and artist.
    She's very well liked and has many close friends in the field of fantasy.
    Her books have been translated into ten languages including all the 'Romance' languages, Russian, Turkish, Japanese and Korean.
    Her art, which seems simple on the surface, has in fact indescribable beauty and incredible depth.
    She is most proud of her children's books.
