He was a child prodigy.
He was lazy.
He wore a monocle.
His monogram was 'ASS.'
He wanted to be a serious composer, but is now only remembered for silly comic operas.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the most popular English composer of his day.
He was embarrassed that his monogram was 'ASS' and so never used his middle name.
He suffered from terrible kidney stones.
He continued to work with librettist W. S. Gilbert, even though he disliked him.
The Gilbert and Sullivan operas have a huge cult following.
His tunes are catchy.
Kelsey Grammer is a huge fan.
