The Resume

    (August 27, 1953- )
    Born in Paterson, New Jersey
Columnist and contributor to 'New Times,' 'New York,' 'Vanity Fair,' 'USA Today,' and 'Hollywood Reporter'
    Editor of AdWeek (2010-11)
Founded the news aggregator website Newser (2007)
Wrote the books 'Burn Rate: How I Survived the Gold Rush Years on the Internet' (1998), 'The Man Who Controls the News: Inside the Secret World of Rupert Murdoch (2008), 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House' (2008), and 'Siege: Trump Under Fire' (2019)

Why he might be annoying:

When he ran a money-hemorrhaging dot.com, Wolff New Media, he deferred his salary to keep the company afloat and encouraged other employees to do the same; when he left the company, he collected his accumulated back pay, exhausting the cash reserves and preventing any other employees from collecting their deferred salaries.
Somehow that episode was omitted when wrote about the company in 'Burn Rate.'
While promoting 'Fire and Fury,' he said he was 'absolutely sure' President Donald Trump was having an affair and suggested that UN Ambassador Nikki Haley was the 'other woman.'
/After drawing flak from both the left (The Washington Post: 'A remarkable multimedia slime job' ) and right ((The New York Post: 'An ugly, sexist rumor'), he backtracked and admitted, 'I do not know if the President is having an affair.'
In 'Siege' he claimed to have copies of a draft indictment prepared by Robert Mueller charging Trump with three counts of obstruction of justice.
Mueller's office declared that such documents 'do not exist.'
His alleged draft indictment is headed 'United States of America against Donald Trump' even though actual Justice Department indictments use 'v.' not 'against.'
One of the events in the alleged draft indictment is not on the Mueller Report's list of ten episodes where Trump might have obstructed justice.
His response to criticism: 'Even if I was wrong, I'm not going to admit it to you.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He won two National Magazine Awards.
Trump's (ultimately idle) threat to file a libel suite over 'Fire and Fury' increased the pre-publication sales orders.
He admitted to 'a train-wreck fascination with Trump.'
