Why he might be annoying:

When he was a student at Deerfield Academy, one of his poems was published in Poetry Magazine; unfortunately, it was published under the name of a classmate who had submitted it without his permission.
He described himself as 'a harebrained, homegrown surrealist whose poetry defies even the rules and logic of surrealism.'
He said his aim was 'to produce a poem that the critics cannot even talk about.'
He said he would not want to be named US Poet Laureate because it would be too much work.

Why he might not be annoying:

His younger brother died at age nine.
He was influenced by artists like Jackson Pollock as well as fellow poets.
His honors include the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the Bollingen Prize for Poetry, the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award and the MacArthur Foundation 'Genius Grant.'
