King of Bavaria (1864-86)
Known as the 'Dream King' and the 'Fairy-Tale King'
Built the castles Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee

Why he might be annoying:

He was infatuated with a number of handsome male servants and reportedly enjoyed having young soldiers whipped.
After Bavaria became part of the German Empire (1870), he became increasingly reclusive.
He would hide behind a screen during state dinners, order command theater performances where he was the only attendee and travel in the dead of night.
He spent much of the national treasury on his patronage of Richard Wagner and on his grand building program.
When his ministers cut off the funds, he contemplated selling off Bavaria and starting a new kingdom somewhere else.
He was officially declared insane and deposed (June 10, 1886).
Three days after he was deposed, he apparently killed his psychiatrist and then himself.

Why he might not be annoying:

Reports of his eccentricities may have been exaggerated by his political enemies.
The son of two first cousins, he illustrated the potential dangers of royal inbreeding.
He was popular among his subjects since he did not consider himself above socializing with commoners.
Some historians believe that he was actually murdered to prevent his followers from restoring him to the throne.
His castles are the leading tourist attractions in Bavaria and earned back their cost many times over.
