Mascot

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He was introduced in response to the Phillie Phanatic, who had debuted a year earlier.
During the Pittsburgh drug trials (1985), it was revealed that the original portrayer of the Parrot, Kevin Koch, served as a middleman between players and drug dealers and performed at several games while high on cocaine.
After the drug trial, he was redesigned to be more kid-friendly.
He gained a gut, became generally goofier-looking, and dropped his pirate garb in favor of a baseball jersey and hat.
He frequently interfered with the Pierogi Races held at Three Rivers Stadium by distracting or knocking over contestants.

Why he might not be annoying:

Given the connection between pirates and parrots, he is a more logical mascot than some out there. (For example, what do chickens have to do with either San Diego or padres?)
During his first year, he got to cheer the Pirates on to a World Series championship.
Despite the introduction of Racing Pierogis and Captain Jolly Roger, he remains the Pirates' primary mascot.
According to the Pirates' website, he has per-game averages of 121.6 high fives and 59.6 pictures taken.
