Football Coach

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

As defensive coordinator for the Oilers, he sucker punched offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.
As defensive coach for the Jets, he started the tradition of placing ‘bounties' on opposing quarterbacks. He later said his defenses were so aggressive because he wanted to 'find out who the second-string quarterback was.'
He was accused of dividing the Bears locker room between the offense and defense.
He never won a playoff game as head coach.
At the press conference introducing him as the new head coach of the Cardinals, he declared, ‘You finally have a winner in town.' He went 12-20 as head coach in Arizona.
As head coach, he often referred to players on offense by their number rather than by name.
He accepted the Eagles job prior to Super Bowl XX, prompting the NFL to put in a non-tampering rule with coaches until their team's season is complete.

Why he might not be annoying:

He masterminded the Purple People Eaters.
He is widely considered to be one of the most innovative defensive coordinators.
His defenses have appeared in 5 Super Bowls, and led the Jets and Bears to their first Super Bowl victories in the history of each franchise.
He said of his defenses, ‘I don't play idiots, and I don't play cowards, because an idiot and a coward will get you beat every time.'
His defensive players in Super Bowl XX carried him off the field. He was the first coordinator to be so honored.
Rather than publicly humiliating Cris Carter during his bout with drugs, he cut him during training camp to get his life together, giving him a shot to catch on with another team.
At 19, he was a Master Sergeant in the Korean conflict.
Both of his sons are defensive coordinators.
He lived on a thoroughbred horse farm in Kentucky.
His wife suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, and he said, 'I don't know how much she understands, but I love her and tell her everything anyway.'
