The Resume

    (1963- )
    Appraiser on Antiques Roadshow (1997)
Dealer of antique weaponry and military antiques
Partner with George Juno of American Ordnance Preservation Association of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

Why he might be annoying:

Along with partner George Juno and a friend, they staged a phony appraisal on Antiques Roadshow.
The friend pretended to find a sword in his attic that he used for splitting watermelons.
His partner Juno appraised it for $35,000, much to the faked astonishment of the friend.
This raised red flags among other weaponry appraisers that the sword used for watermelon chopping was in excellent condition.
He and Juno were found guilty of defrauding a descendent of General George Pickett.
They appraised and paid $87,500 for stuff they quickly sold to a civil war museum for nearly $900,000.
They were ordered to pay George Pickett V, $800,000 and instead dissolved their company.
When approached by the producer of Antiques Roadshow about the questionable dealings, they claimed it was professional jealousy.
They told the producers other appraisers were out to get them to shrink the field so they could profit.
A descendent of Major Samuel J. Wilson sold his sword to them for $7,950. They turned it over for $20,000.
They used their appearance on Antiques Roadshow to sucker people into thinking they were fair and honest.

Why he might not be annoying:

They joined Antiques Roadshow in its beginnings not realizing how popular it would be.
It was not a violation of the Antiques Roadshow to appraise something owned by someone you knew.
Antiques Roadshow fired them and removed any segments with them in it.
He and Juno were indicted on fraud and lying under oath Antiques Roadshow is much more careful as to who they hire as appraisers.
