Why he might be annoying:

Due to the fact he shared his name with Jim Carrey and his playing career took place during the actor's heyday, he was frequently addressed as 'Ace,' 'The Net Detective' and 'The Mask.'
He was described as being antisocial by former teammates.
His play nosedived considerably following his 1996 Vezina Trophy win.
He spent the final two seasons of his career bouncing around the minor leagues, before playing the final four games of his NHL career with the Blues.
He told his teammates he actually had no interest in having a long professional hockey career once he made it to the NHL.

Why he might not be annoying:

He went undefeated in his first seven NHL starts.
He posted an 18-6-3 record in his rookie season, earning NHL All-Rookie Team honors (1994-95).
He received more votes then Dominik Hasek in the Vezina Trophy voting, and was the only goaltender other then Hasek to win the award between 1994 and 1999.
He served as Mike Richter's backup for the United States national team at the inaugural World Cup of Hockey (1996).
He served as the president and CEO of a medical billing company in the years following his retirement from hockey.
