Why he might be annoying:

He inherited his father's vices and mental illnesses.
He and his cousin Derrick entered the military at 13 attempting to pass as 17-year-olds. They were eventually thrown out after several weeks.
His acting career was sporadically successful, since he routinely accepted roles only to abruptly leave during production.
In the 60s, he made several movies in Italy, none of which he liked.
He was married and divorced three times.
He was estranged from his children. He only saw Drew a few times during her childhood.
He was incarcerated many times for drinking, drugs and spousal abuse.
He became homeless in the 70s, and continued to live on and off the streets.
When he lived on the streets, he would mutter bible scriptures to passersby.
He once practiced kung fu on a 5-year-old Drew. She complained, and he burned her hand with a candle.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mother and father divorced when he was an infant.
He claims he had only seen his father once.
His mother raised him away the acting world.
When he became an actor, he was expected to be as successful as his father.
He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to TV.
He publicly admitted that 'I'm not a nice, clean-cut American kid at all' (1962).
He wasn’t materialistic. For decades, he didn't own a pair of shoes.
He eventually reconciled with Drew, and they occasionally stayed in contact.
His daughter says of his passing, ‘He was a cool cat. Please smile when you think of him.’
