The Resume

    (November 18, 1927-March 2, 2003)
    Born in Detroit, Michigan
Birth name was John Henry Kendricks
Leader of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters
Recorded 'Work with Me Annie' (1954), 'Sexy Ways' (1954), 'Annie Had a Baby' (1954), 'Annie's Aunt Fannie' (1954), 'Teardrops on Your Letter' (1959), 'The Twist' (1959), 'Finger Poppin' Time' (1960) and 'Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go' (1960)
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1990)

Why he might be annoying:

He tried to shave nearly a full decade off his age, claiming to be born in 1936.
His 'Annie' songs were widely banned for being sexually suggestive.
He tried unsuccessfully to cash in on the 70s streaking craze with 'Let's Go Streaking' and 'Let's Go Skinny Dipping.'

Why he might not be annoying:

'Work with Me Annie' was the biggest R&B single of 1954 and was named one of the '500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.'
Chubby Checker's hit version of 'The Twist' was a note-for-note copy of Ballard's original.
His wife Theresa was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
