Why he might be annoying:

He took part in church burnings, vandalism of cemeteries and other Satanic/anti-Christan activities associated with the black metal scene.
His vocals consisted of hoarse, grating screams.
He would cut himself on stage with glass and hunting knives, and said, 'Something I study is how people react when my blood is streaming everywhere.'
He committed suicide by a shotgun blast to the head.
His bandmates reportedly made necklaces from his skull fragments, and ate pieces of his brain.
A picture of his dead body appears on the cover of Mayhem's bootleg 'Dawn of the Black Hearts.'
He is thought to have been schizophrenic.

He was known to have a good sense of humor.
He left a suicide note reading simply, 'Please excuse all the blood.'
