The Resume

    (November 19, 1966- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
Best known for his portrayal of Bruce Lee in ‘Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story’ (1994)
Also acted in ‘Map of the Human Heart,’ ‘Rapa Nui,’ ‘The Jungle Book,’ and ‘Soldier’
Provided the voice for David Kawana in ‘Lilo and Stitch’

Why he might be annoying:

His last name, coupled with his starring in a Bruce Lee biopic, has led people to believe that he is Bruce Lee's son. (He isn't).
He turned down the role of Liu Kang in ‘Mortal Combat’
He opted out of doing voice work for the Lilo & Stitch TV series because it would require working in Hollywood regularly.
He briefly dated Carrie Ann Inaba of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ fame.
He was unable to find quality roles in Hollywood and was instead typecast in ethnic/exotic roles, often heavily sexualized.
He was passed over for a role in ‘The Last of the Mohicans’ because he didn’t resemble a Native American then, a year later, went on to star as Mowgli in ‘The Jungle Book’ despite bearing even less resemblance to an Asian Indian.
He starred in Kevin Costner’s over-budgeted disaster, ‘Rapa Nui’
His career fizzled out by the mid-nineties.
He said of his acting career: ‘I love to act, but it is such a big hassle. The pace is torture. You work six days a week, sometimes, 12 to 18 hours a day…you have to fight for this, fight for that, and I'm getting tired of fighting. And I've just started!’

Why he might not be annoying:

He is down to earth and didn’t allow overnight fame from ‘The Bruce Lee Story’ to go to his head.
He was called ‘the Asian Tom Cruise’ (back when that would have been read as a compliment).
He grew so disgusted with Hollywood and public life that he packed up and moved to a remote village on Hawaii’s Big Island, growing his own crops and staging theater in his backyard.
He is good friends with Tia Carrere.
He played the lead opposite Elaine Paige in a West End production of ‘The King & I’ (2000).
He chooses not to play the race card over being typecast (even though Hollywood’s minority problems are no big secret).
He is a certified MMA instructor who has trained at Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kun Do.
He was a good friend and colleague of original Bruce Lee student, Jerry Poteet.
He does his own stunts and suffered severe wounds and concussions after almost drowning on the set of ‘Rapa Nui.’
He sustained bite and claw wounds from wild animals during the filming of ‘The Jungle Book.’
He is regarded highly by the Asian-American community as the one who came closest to becoming the 'Asian leading man' in movies.
