Why he might be annoying:

Little is known about his early life.
His first job in the arts was making quick knock-off copies of popular religious paintings.
    He was a reckless spendthrift.

Why he might not be annoying:

Influenced by an early job painting stage scenery, he often drew on the comedia dell'arte and ballet for subjects.
When he was admitted to the Royal Academy, his style was so unique, he was placed in a category of his own, 'fetes gallantes.'
In addition to painting, he was 'one of the greatest draftsmen of all time, up there with Rembrandt and Leonardo.'
He suffered poor health most of his life and died at 36 from tuberculosis.
